Aubay UK Deployment Models: The Basics
by Emma Saupin
Whether you’re a professional looking to develop your career through an Aubay UK role or a business looking to explore scaling partnership options, understanding recruitment deployment models is essential. These models help define how individuals engage with organisations and how businesses can access the skills they need.
Even if you’ve landed here out of curiosity, we’ve put together a straightforward guide on the basics of deployment models and how Aubay UK uses them to support both clients and consultants.
What Are Deployment Models & Why Are They Needed?
Deployment models, as we use them at Aubay, are categories that define how the consultant is going to be deployed within the client organisation and how Aubay would engage with them.
Having clarity of the deployment models helps us at Aubay UK to identify the talent, based on their skills and motivations, ensuring complete compatibility with the client’s needs.
We have seen in our time within the scaling and recruitment industry that every business has unique requirements for its hiring processes. For some, the right route is long-term scaling capabilities; for others, they need specialist expertise temporarily; and maybe some only want permanent hires.
So, what deployment model is right for each hiring strategy?
What Does Each Model Mean?
Insourcing
For those long-term scaling scenarios, insourcing is the key, and when Aubay UK first began in 2013, our primary and most prominent deployment model for our consultants and clients was this insourcing model. A fact that remains the case today, with insourcing continuously being the most sought-after model from our offerings.
Simply put, this is when talent is employed by us at Aubay UK and deployed into our client's team before the client hires them directly.
For our clients and partners, this offers greater flexibility and reduced long-term commitment, removing the need for extensive budget forecasting or approvals typically associated with permanent hires. Aubay UK manages all employment responsibilities, including payroll, benefits, and ongoing employment obligations, giving clients access to specialist talent while reducing administrative burden and employment risk.
Likewise, the deployed personnel experience the support of Aubay UK for the full 12-month timeline and job security from day one. This support extends within the client organisation too, assisting the talent in settling into their placement, allowing them the visibility and training resources needed for their own development journey and the flexibility of deciding if the client environment is one they connect with.
After the 12-month timeline, the choice lies completely between the talent and client. If permanent direct placement is on the table, the talent is then offered the flexibility of deciding their own career journey. If direct placement is not decided, Aubay UK assists the individual in finding their next opportunity.
Aubay UK’s best interests lie with both the individual and the client, aiming to provide a path for the talent to grow and progress their career within the client company directly.
One fundamental element of Aubay UK's insourcing model is the long-term relationships built between everyone involved. As individuals develop their careers within client organisations, the connections formed throughout their journey continue to flourish. It's not uncommon for Aubay alumni to progress into hiring manager positions, where they continue to foster the relationship between Aubay UK and the client. In doing so, they help create lasting professional bridges that support future collaboration and mutual success for all involved.
This continues until their time deployed with the client is either extended via Aubay UK, they are requested to join the client directly, or, after the year, we assist the individual in finding their next opportunity.
Unlike some outsourcing models offered by recruitment agencies, individuals employed via this model gain interpersonal relationships directly within the client site when working on internal client projects, allowing them to fully integrate within their team and create direct impact. The only difference is that they have two sets of colleagues and support: from Aubay UK and from the client.
For both parties, this model is one rooted in flexibility and low risk.
Contracting
For businesses requiring specialist expertise but only temporarily, contracting is the route for them.
So, following a demand in the market from both candidates, clients and partner requests, we decided to expand beyond just the insourcing model to a contracting deployment model too.
Contracting via Aubay UK sits within the IR35 tax legislation and allows contractors to be taxed similarly to a permanent employee, whilst having the desired flexibility of working as a contractor.
This model of employment remains a popular option for technology professionals due to the diverse project exposure, and for businesses, the rapid access to specialists who can add value to a project immediately.
Recognising a gap in the market, we naturally evolved our offering to include this model, enabling us to maximise the value of our specialist network and deliver greater impact for our clients and partners.
Direct Hires
Our final deployment model type is direct hires, and this option is for organisations that are only looking for direct permanent hires.
After seeing our other two offerings and their successes, demand opened up for one more.
Direct hiring is exactly what it says on the tin. We identify a qualified consultant from our extensive network of professionals, and they join the client as a full-time permanent employee from day one.
While we do offer this model, it is not the one most requested due to the robust and flexible nature of our other deployment models. We have seen this offering gain popularity for talent who have a preference to immediately engage only with the client, rather than utilise the benefits of the Aubay UK insourcing path.
Clients have found this to be a straightforward option to solve their internal hiring problems, with a one-time placement fee, similar to a traditional recruitment agency.
A Flexible Approach to Talent Solutions
The differences between our three deployment models are distinct; however, they all share the same goal: to relieve organisations of their talent deployment problems and scale teams with specialist expertise.
Understanding these differences helps set clear expectations from the outset and ensures that the right solution is chosen for every situation: long-term scaling, temporary expertise or immediate direct permanent hires.
At Aubay UK, we're committed to offering flexible talent solutions that support career growth, enable business success, and create lasting partnerships for everyone involved.
