Role Summary

Aubay is seeking an IT Business Analyst specialising in Power, Gas, and ETRM to support a leading energy sector client. The role involves capturing business problems and requirements, translating these into functional solutions, and ensuring alignment with business strategy. The IT Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders, software suppliers, and development teams throughout the project lifecycle, leading business analysis activities and facilitating change that delivers measurable business value.

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • 4 to 7 years’ experience in an IT business analysis role. 
  • Experience with business analysis related to products and solutions in IT. 
  • Previous experience working in Energy trading domain, with in depth knowlege of energy commodities, specifically Power and/or Gas. 
  • Extensive experience with ETRM applications
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering concepts, data and process analysis, and modelling. 
  • Proven ability to educate and guide stakeholders, including Product Owners and Business Partners, in Agile ways of working. 
  • Experience working within Agile project environments, with a solid understanding of Agile frameworks and tools. 
  • Degree-level education. 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Agile certifications or formal training preferred. 
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) certification preferred. 
  • Training and experience in Lean methodologies are advantageous. 

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements and translate these into detailed functionality. 
  • Assess risks, feasibility, opportunities, and the overall business impact of proposed solutions. 
  • Analyse and model business processes, data flows, and technology to understand current state and identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Create and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of requirements, ensuring alignment with the evolving solution throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Ensure traceability of requirements from business needs through testing and scope changes to final delivery. 
  • Collaborate with software suppliers, designers, and developers to understand software limitations, contribute to system and database design, and ensure business requirements and use cases are effectively addressed. 
  • Configure and document software and processes according to agreed standards and tools. 
  • Define acceptance criteria and coordinate testing activities to validate that solutions meet business needs. 
  • Develop and present compelling business cases to justify solution value and secure approval, funding, and prioritisation. 
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and control Business Analysis activities within agreed parameters of cost, time, and quality. 
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and manage large design sessions. 
  • Lead and mentor teams to complete business analysis on projects.
