Role Summary
Aubay is seeking an experienced Data Architect with a solid background in financial services to join our team at a leading financial services entity embarking on an exciting transformation journey. As part of this dynamic environment, the ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the data architecture landscape to meet the evolving needs of our business. The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end design efforts for large-scale data solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements, and navigating the different complexities inherent in the financial services sector, being capable of constructively challenging both Enterprise Architects and Developers, bringing credibility through real-world execution. We’re looking for someone who not only has a strong strategic understanding but also possesses deep hands-on experience. This role requires the successful candidate to be onsite in Solihull three days a week; this is a non-negotiable requirement.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5-6 years of experience in the data space, within financial institutions or similarly regulated environments
- Proficiency in risk data, financial risk, regulatory reporting, risk reporting, and finance reporting
- Leadership experience, including leading technology teams and initiatives
- Expertise in distributed databases and computing environments
- Familiarity with TOGAF methodology for architecture development
- Usage of relevant tech is a must – Azure, Oracle, IBM, Ab initio, Snowflake etc.
- Hands-on experience with big data processing technologies, including Spark (PySpark and SparkScala)
- Experience with data management platforms, ideally Ab Initio
- Understanding of APIs and their integration with data systems
- Balance of business (data gov + analytics) and IT skills (data lakes, ETL, etc).
- Deep understanding of modern data engineering mindset, such as data lakes, data lakehouses, and in transforming legacy data warehouses into modern, scalable architectures.
- Cloud-native architecture experience (e.g., S3, Azure Data Lake, GCP , IBM COS, BigQuery)
- Streaming and event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)
- Experience designing or implementing CDMs
- DataOps and CI/CD for data pipelines
- Security and access control in data platformsExperience working across multiple teams and on a variety of projects simultaneously
Desired Skills and Experience
- TOGAF Practitioner certification
- ITIL certification
- Previous experience with BCBS 239 regulations
- Proficiency in Dremio virtualization platform
- Knowledge of visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI
- Proficiency in analytics platforms like SaaS and Python
- Experience with Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
Key Role Responsibilities
- Offering technical architectural expertise, guidance, and assistance in executing the strategy across data projects within programs and initiatives.
- Designing architecture and solutions to meet the business's 2025 plan, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Developing data solutions for large-scale systems spanning multiple business domains, including risk, finance, and marketing, while adhering to regulations such as BCBS 239.
- Leading end-to-end design efforts for large-scale data solutions, providing guidance to technology teams
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that data architecture fits within the roadmap and meets business requirements effectively.
- Implementing best practices for data architecture, including data governance, security, and scalability.
- Evaluating and recommending new technologies and tools to enhance the data architecture and meet evolving business needs.
- Leading design reviews within project teams to ensure compliance with the set strategy and related standards.
- Communicating and managing architectural risks and issues while adhering to architectural governance protocols.
