Role Summary

Aubay is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to support a high-profile Vessel Performance Dashboard (VPD) project within a major energy organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in gathering and translating business requirements into actionable data solutions for the LNG and Products shipping fleets. This includes engaging with stakeholders, validating data, and ensuring the final dashboard supports performance optimisation and operational insights. This is a dynamic role ideal for a technically confident business analyst with experience working in complex data environments and a solid understanding of vessel operations or industrial logistics.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in data-intensive projects, ideally within the maritime, logistics, or energy sectors.
  • Strong experience in handling enterprise-level data warehouse programmes (e.g., SAP, big data systems).
  • Familiarity with querying languages such as SQL to validate data requirements and design prototypes.
  • Hands-on experience with data modelling and mapping across multiple systems (RADAR, GMAS, BOSS or similar platforms).
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into clear technical requirements and data products.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to lead workshops, communicate technical concepts clearly, and act as liaison between technical and business teams.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including producing user stories, functional specifications, use cases, and process diagrams.
  • Ability to validate and quality-assure dashboard outputs for usability, performance, and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working across Agile and Waterfall project environments.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of LNG or product fleet operations, vessel performance metrics, or maritime data analytics.
  • Experience working in hybrid or global teams, especially with stakeholders in the UK and US.
  • Familiarity with dashboard or BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of metrics such as emissions, cargo heating optimisation, fuel consumption efficiency, and tank cleaning for fleet performance.
  • Prior exposure to Boil-Off Gas (BOG) optimisation and in-port consumption tracking is advantageous.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Engage with business stakeholders to gather, define, and document detailed business requirements for vessel performance metrics using structured methods.
  • Benchmark new requirements against existing LNG implementations to identify gaps and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Map data across complex systems such as RADAR, GMAS, and BOSS to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and test SQL queries or equivalent to validate proposed solutions before handing over to engineering teams for implementation.
  • Act as a key contact between business teams, developers, and data engineers to ensure all parties are aligned throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Support testing and validation of dashboard features and outputs to ensure they meet defined business needs.
  • Produce user stories, process flows, and technical documentation to support requirements, decision-making, and future iterations.
  • Coordinate with business SMEs based in both the UK and the US to align timelines, deliverables, and system requirements.
  • Run structured workshops to elicit requirements, validate assumptions, and engage cross-functional teams.
