Role Summary
Aubay is seeking a Scrum Master to support data-focused squads within a leading financial services organisation in the UK. The Scrum Master will be responsible for fostering collaboration between Product Owners, data squads, and stakeholders, ensuring Agile practices are effectively applied to deliver high-value outcomes. This role requires both servant-leadership and strong facilitation skills, with the ability to coach teams in Agile ways of working, adapt frameworks to meet delivery needs, and drive continuous improvement. The successful candidate will also bring knowledge of data-related change, ensuring effective delivery of insights and optimisation of data processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in data-related projects.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.
- Strong understanding of Agile principles, frameworks, and ceremonies (Scrum, Kanban, Agile@Scale).
- Experience of data-related change initiatives, with exposure to analytics, data engineering, governance, and data quality.
- Familiarity with Agile management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and servant-leadership skills.
- Strong stakeholder management, including IT and business stakeholders.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycles and appreciation of IT and business risk, including cybersecurity.
- Strong organisational and governance awareness, able to support reporting and PMO requirements.
- Effective communicator, with the ability to inspire and enable cross-functional teams.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience with data visualisation tools and techniques.
- Accreditation or background in data-related fields (e.g., Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science).
- Understanding of Lean, DevSecOps, and Design Thinking practices.
- Familiarity with Tribe/Guild organisational models and ability to support new squad formation.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement practices and experience implementing them.
- French language skills would be an advantage.
Role Responsibilities:
- Act as a servant leader, enabling Product Owners and squads to work effectively together.
- Ensure Agile frameworks, values, and principles are applied consistently within squads.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Coach and support Product Owners in managing backlogs and prioritisation.
- Promote continuous improvement, encouraging feedback and supporting initiatives to increase squad efficiency.
- Foster collaboration between data analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with goals, timelines, and requirements.
- Remove impediments and support the squad in addressing technical, organisational, or human-related challenges.
- Support organisational governance, providing reporting and progress updates to stakeholders and PMO.
- Ensure transparent communication, maintaining a positive squad culture and effective collaboration.
- Anticipate squad needs, support onboarding of newcomers, and ensure integration with Agile@Scale frameworks where applicable.
- Contribute to the promotion of Agility across the organisation by sharing knowledge, developing reusable tools, and creating relevant training content.
- Support compliance with regulatory, data protection, and security requirements.
- Drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement, helping team members develop their Agile skills and mindset.
