Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking a Senior KYC Officer to join a leading energy trading organisation. This role will act as the key focal point for completing the Know Your Counterparty (KYC) process for all trading and non-trading entities within our client. The successful candidate will coordinate with counterparties and internal stakeholders to manage KYC for new and existing trading, non-trading, inbound and outbound activities. They will ensure all requests, documentation, and statuses are appropriately actioned, tracked and recorded.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business/Commerce, Legal, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a due diligence / AML / KYC / compliance role within commodities or finance, preferably energy commodities. 
  • Understanding of counterparty due diligence processes. 
  • Knowledge of LNG trading activities is an advantage. 
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with experience engaging stakeholders across Front Office, Finance, Compliance, Legal, and external counterparties. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving ability. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams. 
  • Professional Compliance Qualification is desirable but not required. 

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Implement the KYC process for new, amended, and refreshed onboarding requests, acting as the main point of contact with counterparties and internal teams. 
  • Obtain, prepare, and maintain documentation to support timely risk and due diligence checks by Compliance and Credit teams. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including Front Office, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and ETRM teams to ensure smooth onboarding. 
  • Facilitate successful onboarding by bridging gaps in understanding, summarising and clarifying requirements, and ensuring timely responses. 
  • Prioritise and fast-track urgent KYC requests by coordinating efficiently with all relevant stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate the development, negotiation, and execution of confidentiality agreements. 
  • Document outcomes of risk assessments and due diligence, including deviations from procedures and necessary approvals. 
  • Track the status and key risks of ongoing KYC activities, providing prompt updates, reports, and status meetings as required. 
  • Identify areas for process improvement, efficiency, and automation to optimise KYC operations. 
  • Maintain and update all relevant KYC data and records across internal systems, ensuring appropriate audit trails. 
  • Support audits and maintain up-to-date KYC policies, procedures, training materials, and documentation. 
  • Act as the main point of contact for counterparties, handling information requests and enquiries. 
  • Maintain and update all refreshed KYC data and records across internal systems and trackers, ensuring audit readiness. 
  • Prepare documentation for Credit and Compliance teams to complete verification. 
  • Provide regular updates and reports on KYC refresh status to stakeholders and management.
