Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking an experienced Derivatives Control Analyst to join a leading energy trading organisation. This role is responsible for the end-to-end reconciliation, confirmation, and settlement of both OTC and Exchange-Traded derivatives. The successful candidate will ensure alignment of the company’s positions, margin calls, and confirmations with external counterparties and exchanges, while maintaining robust controls, accurate records, and timely reporting. They will also support digitalisation initiatives and provide recommendations to senior management regarding transactional and risk control.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent from an internationally recognized university. Postgraduate qualification (M.Com or MBA) is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commodity or energy derivatives analysis and control, covering both OTC and Exchange-Traded derivatives.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in derivatives reconciliation processes, including margin calls and portfolio reconciliation.
  • Experience in reviewing and reconciling brokerage statements and invoices.
  • Proficiency in CTRM systems, SAP, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong Excel skills, with experience in VBA/macros to support automation of manual processes.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-starter, able to take full ownership and deliver tasks to tight timelines.
  • Energetic, proactive, and positive mindset.


Role Responsibilities

  • Reconcile the company’s Daily Cleared Open Derivative positions and Daily Margin Call requirements with the Exchange and Clearing House.
  • Verify trades, support daily cash allocation, and manage broker fees and commissions.
  • Query, challenge, and resolve reconciliation discrepancies with the Clearing House to ensure alignment with the company’s records.
  • Draft OTC paper confirmations compliant with ISDA definitions, sending them to counterparties to ensure company records match those of counterparties.
  • Check incoming OTC paper and electronic confirmations to ensure records match counterparties.
  • Chase outstanding and inbound OTC confirmations to ensure control checks are complete.
  • Validate market ad hoc operations and system static data amendments to ensure Master Reference Data (MRD) is up to date in company systems.
  • Invoice and agree settlements for OTC transactions.
  • Perform portfolio reconciliation as required by EMIR regulations.
  • Process brokerage invoices, reconciling to statements and settling invoices.
  • Provide recommendations to senior management regarding transactional controls, exposures, positions, and settlements, and appraise management of the company’s financial position and risk status.
  • Support process improvement and digitalisation initiatives, including automation of manual settlement and reconciliation processes.
