Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking a Project Manager for our leading oil and gas client. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and controlling projects of up to $5M in value and with teams of up to 20 members, following the client’s Project Delivery Framework (PDF) and associated delivery standards. Working within the client’s Trading & Supply organisation and supporting the Gas Programme, the Project Manager will drive delivery within the Gas Desk Analytics product area enhancing, digitalising, and scaling analytical tools that support traders with intraday trading, gas storage management, pricing analysis, and broader trading decision‑making. Success in this role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendor partners to ensure solutions are reliable, accessible, and aligned with the business case of providing high‑quality, timely, and user‑friendly data to the gas trading organisation.

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Project Management certification. 
  • Experience delivering projects in Waterfall & Agile methodologies. 
  • Technology experience across cloud, mobile, software‑as‑a‑service (SaaS), digital platforms, ERP, web applications, networking, workplace productivity, compliance, or cybersecurity. 
  • Strong Vendor Management, Governance, Project Management, Scoping & Budgeting, Planning & Tracking, Assurance & Compliance, Risk Assessment & Management, and Stakeholder Management skills. 
  • Strong financial skills, including cost management and benefits tracking. 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. 
  • Domain knowledge in areas such as Chemicals, Deepwater, Retail, Finance, Legal, HR, Capital Projects, or relevant energy trading business functions. 
  • Demonstrated capability working with trading‑related analytical tools and supporting business stakeholders within trading environments (Gas, LNG, SE‑E). 
  • Experience working with digital, SaaS, and cloud‑based transformation initiatives, aligned with the Client’s delivery frameworks. 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).  
  • 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years delivering progressively larger and more complex projects up to $5M CAPEX/OPEX and leading teams of up to 20 members.  
  • Storytelling and stakeholder influencing skills.  
  • Strong communication, interpersonal resilience, and ability to lead teams through uncertainty. 
  • Entrepreneurial and strategic thinking capability. 
  • Experience working in energy trading portfolios such as:  
  • Client IDT / Downstream & Renewables 
  • Trading & Supply (TS) – Client Energy, SE‑EA 
  • Gas Trading, SE‑Gas Programme 
  • Familiarity with Gas Desk Analytics product ecosystem (advantage). 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, execute, and control projects (up to $5M and 20 team members) in line with the Client Project Delivery Framework (PDF) and Client delivery standards. 
  • Deliver business value by ensuring projects meet defined requirements, within agreed parameters of cost, schedule, quality, risk, and benefits. 
  • Apply strong programme and project delivery skills across both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. This includes:  
  • Effective Change Control, Risk Management, and Reporting 
  • Establishing and executing Project Governance 
  • Managing Programme Leadership and the wider Project Natural Team 
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders within the Gas Desk Analytics domain to support:  
  • Intraday Trading Tool 
  • Gas Storage Management 
  • Gas Digital Platform 
  • Client Energy Pricing 
  • Gas Desk reporting and decision‑support tools 
  • Support the Gas Desk Analytics product team in improving and digitalising analytical tools used by SE‑E Gas Trading, especially dashboards for books, positions, trading insights, and decision‑making workflows. 
  • Ensure consistent alignment with the business case: providing high‑quality, timely, and accessible data and maintaining user‑friendly, reliable, and scalable analytical tools. 
  • Use domain and technology knowledge to guide teams across cloud, digital, mobile, SaaS, and analytics solution delivery. 
  • Build and leverage strong relationships with senior sponsors, programme managers, and key stakeholders—especially within trading, analytics, and governance teams. 
  • Lead and motivate the project team through ambiguity, demonstrating resilience, structure, and delivery focus. 
  • Ensure full compliance with Client standards, including assurance, audit, security, and regulatory expectations.
