Role Summary
Aubay UK is seeking a Technical Architect to design and propose architecture solutions that are scalable, reliable, observable, and maintainable within a dynamic Financial Services environment. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across system design and architecture, collaborating closely with senior leadership and engineering teams to ensure solutions align with business objectives and long-term technology strategy. The role requires a hands-on architect with experience in both designing architecture and supporting its implementation. Candidates must have demonstrable experience in creating and designing solutions, not just reviewing or validating them. Please note: This is a hybrid role requiring on-site working three days per week at the client’s offices in the West Midlands.
Required skills and experience
- Overall 5+ years’ experience within IT with at least 2 years in a similar architecture or solution design role
- Demonstrable experience creating and designing architecture solutions, not only validating them
- Strong experience working with TOGAF and applying architecture principles
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate effectively and influence at executive level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong technical documentation ability
- Ability to operate across multiple engagements concurrently and assume architectural responsibility
- Requirements elicitation and effective presentation skills
- Experience working within architecture governance on complex architecture landscapes
- Experience designing complex solutions across on-premise and cloud environments
- Experience with commercial off-the-shelf and bespoke solutions
Desired skills and experience
- TOGAF Practitioner and ITIL certifications
- Experience in financial services or payments domain
- Software engineering background
- Experience architecting Microsoft .NET applications
- Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices, including automation, testing, and development pipelines
- Proficiency with architecture and modelling tools such as Orbus iServer, MS Visio, UML, ArchiMate, sequence diagrams, and topology modelling
- Experience in: Technical design, Application design, Security design, SOA/Microservices, Data centre virtualisation
- Broad knowledge across IT disciplines and understanding of the project lifecycle
- Subject matter expertise in one or more domains: Business, Functional, Application, Data, or Technical
