Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking a Senior Solution Architect for their leading oil and gas client, supporting large-scale transformation initiatives across Trading, Supply, Downstream, and Renewables. This role will play a critical part in delivering solution architecture, technical assurance, and consultancy across high-impact programmes, ensuring solutions align with enterprise standards, reference architectures, and strategic roadmaps. The successful candidate will operate primarily as an individual contributor, working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders to design, assure, and optimise solutions that support key trading platforms and enterprise systems. Candidates will be required to be onsite 2–3 days per week in the Waterloo office.

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Strong solution architecture experience within enterprise, complex, and regulated environments  
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into practical, standards-aligned technical solutions  
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior business leaders  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messaging to technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to link technology decisions to business outcomes 
  • Experience applying enterprise architecture standards and resolving technical challenges within defined guardrails 
  • Ability to operate autonomously and make solution decisions within architectural guidelines 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience within oil & gas, energy trading, or commodities environments 
  • Exposure to ETRM platforms and trading systems, particularly within products and trading portfolios 
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools such as IBM System Architect, PowerDesigner, or ProVision  
  • Experience working across Downstream, Renewables, Trading & Supply, or similar portfolios 
  • Understanding of modern architecture domains including Cloud, Integration, Mobile, Open Source, and Big Data 
  • Experience contributing to or supporting large-scale transformation programmes 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide solution architecture development, consultancy, and assurance across programmes and projects, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards, segment architectures, and reference models
  • Translate architectural guidelines and standards into practical solutions, resolving technical challenges and delivering recommendations that drive measurable business impact  
  • Apply TOE standards, raising architectural step-outs where required, and promote reuse of architecture artefacts and patterns  
  • Use standard architecture tools to create, manage, and maintain solution artefacts and documentation  
  • Work closely with senior business stakeholders (JG1/2), managing relationships and influencing solution direction  
  • Support the delivery of strategic programmes, including Project Chloe (Products ETRM), delivering ETRM transformation and replacement of legacy trading systems  
  • Contribute to the identification and adoption of new technologies to optimise IT and business performance  
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to other professionals within the architecture community
  • Represent the organisation as a subject matter expert with suppliers, partners, and external stakeholders when required
