Role Summary

Aubay is seeking a Principal Metadata Management Lead to drive the definition, design, implementation, and scaling of enterprise metadata management and data governance capabilities. The role ensures that data, analytics, and AI assets are discoverable, trusted, governed, and reusable across the organisation—enabling regulatory compliance, value creation from data, and AI-readiness. The position acts as a senior thought leader on metadata, cataloguing, lineage, ownership, and governance design, with a strong focus on enterprise tooling such as Collibra Enterprise Data Catalogue (EDC), Databricks Unity Catalog, and the evolution of enterprise catalogue, access, and metadata analytics capabilities (including CAT and FOX).

 Required skills and experience

  •  Extensive experience in enterprise data governance and metadata management
  •  Deep hands?on expertise with Collibra Enterprise Data Catalogue (EDC)
  •  Strong understanding of data platforms, APIs, and metadata integration patterns
  •  Strong facilitation, communication, and storytelling skills, able to translate complex concepts to general audiences
  •  Experience working in varied natural teams across business and technology
  •  Proven ability to operate as a senior individual contributor influencing at scale
  •  Expertise in metadata, cataloguing, lineage, ownership, and stewardship models
  •  Experience defining governance frameworks for data, analytics, and AI assets

 Desired skills and experience

  •  Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, and modern data platforms
  •  Knowledge of AI governance, model registries, and emerging AI regulation
  •  Experience working in complex, global enterprise environments
  •  Experience implementing or facilitating data governance within or across business lines
  •  Experience in successful data access initiatives
  •  Knowledge of data quality management and data observability
  •  Familiarity with Agile Ways of Working (ART) and product ownership

 Role Responsibilities

  •  Define and evolve enterprise metadata management strategy, standards, and governance models across data, analytics, and AI
  •  Lead the development of the Enterprise Data Catalogue and CAT as the primary entry point for discovering, understanding, and accessing data and reporting
  •  Establish clear positioning and architecture for Collibra EDC and its relationship to technical catalogues, business metadata, and reporting
  •  Expand catalogue capabilities to support automated access, scalable stewardship, unstructured data cataloguing, and semantic models for AI?ready data
  •  Implement AI?enabled and platform?integrated approaches to improve metadata onboarding, quality, and freshness
  •  Drive metadata?driven discovery and access patterns to support adoption of data products and analytics
  •  Act as delegate Product Owner for CAT, shaping the roadmap, prioritising enhancements, and translating business feedback into a continuous backlog
  •  Partner with vendors and internal platform teams to evaluate capabilities, run pilots, and align on roadmap direction
  •  Support the design and delivery of FOX to consolidate metadata analytics, generate insights, and identify efficiency opportunities
  •  Reduce friction between central platforms and federated teams through metadata?driven insights and standardised approaches
  •  Enable governed discovery and reuse of data products, AI models, and agents through strong metadata foundations
  •  Lay the groundwork for future data and AI marketplace capabilities with governance, risk, and compliance embedded by design
  •  Engage business and technology stakeholders through workshops, demos, and enablement sessions to drive adoption and literacy
  •  Advise senior stakeholders on metadata, governance, and AI readiness, representing these initiatives in enterprise programmes
  •  Define KPIs for metadata coverage, quality, and adoption, and produce standards, playbooks, and guidance
  •  Continuously evolve governance approaches in response to regulatory, business, and technology change
  •  Mentor practitioners and contribute to the wider metadata and governance community
