Role Summary
Aubay UK is seeking a Solution Architect for a leading global energy client. This role focuses on delivering high-quality solution architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, and driving technology optimisation across projects. The position involves translating architectural strategy into practical outcomes while contributing to innovation and technical excellence across a large-scale global environment.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Enterprise Architect in complex IT environments
- Strong understanding of architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF or equivalent)
- Experience designing solutions across Cloud, Integration, Data, and Application domains
- Experience with architecture modelling tools such as System Architect, PowerDesigner, or ProVision
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and robust technical solutions
- Strong understanding of IT governance, standards, and architecture best practices
- Experience engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong communication and documentation skills, including architecture artefacts
- Experience working in large-scale, enterprise, or global environments
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience within Oil & Gas, Energy, or other asset-heavy industries
- Knowledge of modern architecture patterns (microservices, API-led, event-driven architecture)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of data architecture, big data platforms, and analytics solutions
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments
- Experience mentoring team members or acting as a subject matter expert
- Strong awareness of security, risk, and compliance in solution design
Role Responsibilities
- Act primarily as an individual contributor, with potential mentoring responsibilities
- Deliver solution architecture design, consultancy, and assurance across projects
- Ensure compliance with enterprise standards and reference architectures
- Translate architectural guidelines into practical implementations
- Provide technical recommendations to enhance business performance and innovation
- Identify and deliver opportunities to optimise IT systems and introduce new technologies
- Act as a subject matter expert for stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners
- Make solution decisions within established governance frameworks
- Apply architecture standards and manage necessary exceptions
- Create and maintain architecture artefacts using standard tools
- Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders
- Align solutions with the organisation’s IT strategic roadmap (Cloud, Integration, Mobile, Data)
- Contribute to training, mentoring, and capability development
