Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Project Definition & Mobilisation to lead the shaping, planning, and mobilisation of a portfolio of strategic business and technology initiatives. This role will focus on transforming high-level business objectives and problem statements into clearly defined, executable projects. Working across business and technology teams, the successful candidate will lead discovery activities to define scope, requirements, governance, budgets, timelines, risks, dependencies, and delivery approaches, ensuring initiatives are positioned for successful execution. The ideal candidate will bring strong project definition, stakeholder management, and governance experience, with the ability to operate effectively in complex and evolving environments while coordinating multiple interdependent workstreams.

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Proven experience defining and shaping projects from early-stage concepts through mobilisation  
  • Strong project management experience across both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies  
  • Experience within Trading & Supply, Commodities Trading, or Energy Trading environments  
  • Knowledge of Endur or other Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) platforms  
  • Experience developing business cases, project charters, mobilisation plans, and investment proposals  
  • Strong governance, reporting, assurance, and project control experience  
  • Experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, issues, and dependencies  
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and workshop facilitation skills  
  • Experience delivering business and technology transformation initiatives  
  • Ability to work across business, process, data, and technology domains  
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects, workstreams, and delivery teams  
  • Recognised Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent) 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience with infrastructure, hosting, or application modernisation programmes  
  • Experience delivering data management, data retention, or data migration initiatives  
  • Knowledge of sustainability, emissions, or regulatory reporting processes  
  • Experience working within large global organisations and matrix structures  
  • Experience supporting strategic transformation programmes 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead discovery, assessment, and project definition activities for strategic initiatives  
  • Translate business objectives into clear project scopes, requirements, and delivery plans  
  • Develop project charters, business cases, mobilisation plans, and investment recommendations  
  • Define project governance, delivery approaches, resource requirements, and success measures  
  • Identify and manage risks, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, and change impacts  
  • Engage business and technology stakeholders to assess current-state capabilities and future requirements  
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, reporting, and delivery controls  
  • Coordinate multiple interdependent projects and workstreams  
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to drive alignment and decision-making  
  • Provide regular updates, recommendations, and reporting to programme leadership and governance forums  
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across business, technology, and external partners  
  • Ensure projects are mobilised and delivered in alignment with wider programme objectives
